Where the experience comes from.
Before founding Carteret Tech in 2023, Alex spent 15 years in enterprise IT security and infrastructure — working with organizations at a scale most local IT shops have never touched. That means the same security awareness, documentation discipline, and operational rigor those organizations paid premium rates for is now available to a small restaurant on Arendell Street or a charter business on the waterfront.
The experience covered incident response, endpoint security, network operations, and infrastructure management across organizations of a scale most local IT shops have never worked with. The difference it makes in practice: problems get diagnosed correctly the first time, work is documented so you're not dependent on one person's memory, and you get an honest read on what's worth fixing versus replacing.
Carteret Tech launched because Eastern NC small businesses were being poorly served. The national MSPs priced small businesses out of real support. The local options were thin. Businesses that couldn't afford an IT department still needed someone who answered the phone, showed up, and knew what they were doing. That's the gap this fills.

You call or email. The same person who answers is the person who comes out — no dispatch system, no tiered support model, no account manager between you and the tech.
We triage on the first call. If it's something we can handle remotely, we often fix it during that conversation. If you need someone on-site, we schedule within one business day in most of the service area.
